HOUSTON—Retail veteran Jason Gaines has been tapped to develop and lead a newly reinstated retail division, NAI Partners tells GlobeSt.com exclusively . Gaines comes to NAI Partners from Hunington Properties and will be a senior vice president with NAI. As director of retail leasing at Hunington, Gaines led a third-party leasing platform of more than 150 retail properties in the Houston market, totaling more than three million square feet of total space. Additionally, Gaines has extensive experience in the area of asset management. Prior to Hunington Properties, he managed a portfolio throughout Texas of 26 investment grade properties totaling more than 3.8 million square feet. “In recent years, NAI Partners' overall strategic plan has been to diversify our business lines and refreshing our retail services capability was another key component to that plan. Jason is the perfect person to lead our new retail division,” said Jon Silberman , managing partner of NAI Partners. “The breadth and depth of his experience, market knowledge and dedication to client service will be of great benefit throughout the company as we continue to expand and enhance the range of commercial real estate services we offer our clients.” As the retail division leader, Gaines will initially focus on the Houston market; however, he will move into building and leading both the Austin and San Antonio markets as well. “Bringing Jason on stemmed directly from the recognition that our clientele required a single point of contact to provide strategic attention and market-specific support for investors of retail real estate. In building this retail division, Jason's focus will be geared toward retail third-party leasing, retail tenant representation, investment sales and other retail brokerage. He will also work on the property services side to assist in developing other lines of retail-related landlord service business, including property management and project management,” adds Jim Tainter , managing director of NAI Partners' property services division. Rounding out NAI Partners' retail services line of business is Hannah Kaplan , also from Huntington Properties. Kaplan joins the company as an associate. Although relatively new to the industry, Kaplan has already hit the ground running in her career, completing more than 60 retail transactions totaling 150,000 square feet. She is a graduate of Rollins College and an active participant in the Houston community. Notably, she is involved with the Jewish Federation of Houston , organizing mission trips and fundraising activities. “This is an exciting time for NAI Partners and I am proud to be a part of its growth,” said Gaines. “I look forward to building and leading NAI Partners' retail division. With talent like Hannah to help assist in creating a dynamic team, I am thrilled to join such an impressive group of real estate professionals.” Gaines is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin . He is a native of Houston and currently lives in the city.
