Draper and Kramer's Kumar to Take Leadership Positions at IREM

CHICAGO—Kumar one-year term as secretary will lead to serving as treasurer in 2018, president-elect in 2019 and president in 2020.

CHICAGO—Officials from Draper and Kramer, Inc. say that Shruti Kumar , a senior property manager with the firm’s residential property management division, has been appointed to serve on the 2017 Institute of Real Estate Management Chicago Governing Council as secretary. “We’re so proud of Shruti for her ongoing commitment to professional development through involvement with industry organizations like IREM,” says Julie Johnson , senior vice president of management services for Chicago-based Draper and Kramer. “For the last eight years, Shruti has been managing some of Draper and Kramer’s largest rental communities with excellent fiscal control and an organizational approach that keeps operations running smoothly. We know those same qualities that make her so valuable to our team will make her a terrific asset to IREM as well.” Currently, Kumar is senior property manager of Lake Meadows Apartments, where she oversees 1,869 rental units in the mixed-use community that includes four high-rise and five mid-rise towers on 70 acres in Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood. Located between 31 st and 35 th streets, east of Martin Luther King Dr., the apartments offer city, park and lake views, and easy access to downtown Chicago via Lake Shore Drive. “Serving on the 2017 IREM Chicago Council is an exciting opportunity for me to connect with others in the field and continue to broaden my knowledge of the industry,” says Kumar. “I am especially grateful to Draper and Kramer for helping me to grow professionally so that I’m equipped to take on this new challenge.” Kumar will begin her four-year commitment to serve on IREM Chicago’s Governing Council in October. Her one-year term as secretary will lead to serving as treasurer in 2018, president-elect in 2019 and president in 2020. She joined Draper and Kramer in 2008 as a property manager of high-rise buildings. Previously, she was a property manager with Finger Cos. and A and R Katz .
