Casino Expansion to Include Spa and Conference Center

MARICOPA, AZ— Construction is underway on a multi-million-dollar expansion at Harrah's Ak-Chin Casino to include a spa, a conference center, restaurants, more than 200 guest rooms and a parking garage.

MARICOPA, AZ—In an effort to increase capacity for conventions and other special events, a local Harrah’s casino is bulking up its event and restaurant space. Construction is underway on a multi-million-dollar expansion at Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino in the Ak-Chin Indian Community . Designed by TBE Architects , the expansion will include a spa, a conference center with multi-use ballroom space, a parking garage, additional restaurants and more than 200 guest rooms. “As one of a few full-service hotels and casinos in the area, this expansion will offer more options to visitors and guests throughout the Pinal and Maricopa Counties,” said Robert Livingston , general manager of Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino. This expansion will not only increase room availability and accommodate additional hotel guests, but will also afford the property the opportunity to host large-scale entertainment, conventions and other meetings. Sundt Construction Inc. project director Chandra Reilly tells GlobeSt.com: “This project is going to be a huge economic driver for the Ak-Chin Indian Community as well as the city of Maricopa and the surrounding municipalities. I’m pretty proud of the whole team─our clients, our designers, and our construction professionals─for the amount of dedication and tenacity they’ve all shown, and I think having a common community development goal to rally around has been a big part of that.” The Ak-Chin Indian Community and Sundt-Yates , a joint venture between Sundt Construction and Yates Construction , recently broke ground on the project. “Economic development projects for Indian communities are some of the most impactful projects we build,” said Reilly. “This project has demanded the best ideas out of everyone involved, and we look forward to bringing those ideas to life over the next two years.”
