CHICAGO—Chicago-based Golub & Co. and its Boston-based partner Alcion Ventures bought Oak Brook Executive Plaza in 2014, changed its name to Oakbrook 22, and began adding the types of amenities that modern office users now demand. And yesterday, the international real estate investment and development firm announced that Cornerstone Restaurant Group will open a new 8,500-square-foot Michael Jordan's Steakhouse in the summer of 2017 at Oakbrook 22.
Golub officials say this addition caps off the redevelopment of the 389,000-square-foot office complex on W. 22nd St. in west suburban Oak Brook. Along the way, a CBRE leasing team of Pete Adamo, Bill Elwood and Tara Torbik completed more than 22 lease renewals and 13 new office leases, bringing the occupancy up to 95%.
“We've created an office community at Oakbrook 22 that uses and appreciates premier amenities,” says John Ferguson, senior vice president of Golub & Co. “We're confident that Michael Jordan Steak House will become one of Oakbrook's most sought-after restaurants, especially given its prominent visibility both from I-88 and across the street from Oak Brook Center Mall.”
Golub has modernized the properties, originally built in phases between 1968 and 1980, enhanced the curb appeal, updated office interiors and common areas, and added significant new tenant amenities.
Wright Heerema Architects led the redesign.
“We're pleased with the pace of the redevelopment and the reception we've received from both new and existing tenants and brokers in the market,” says Mark Potter, co-founder and partner of Alcion Ventures. “This project has been consistent with Alcion's suburban office strategy, investing in large and diverse markets with multiple demand drivers and constraints on new office supply.”
