Daniel Martin

NEW YORK CITY—International law firm McDermott Will & Emery has added Daniel Martin, a seasoned real estate finance attorney, as a partner with the law firm's corporate and transactional practice here.

He joins the firm after serving as an associate in the commercial real estate practice at the law firm Schulte Roth & Zabel for almost 11 years, according to his Linkedin account.

Martin, who received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and his BA from the State University of New York at Geneseo, has more than a decade of experience advising on real estate investment and financing transactions. The McDermott law firm notes that Martin has represented clients in large acquisitions and asset sales, loan originations, as well as restructurings and workouts involving distressed properties.

He also regularly counsels financial institutions, private equity funds, hedge funds, pension funds, and other institutional investors of real estate assets. Martin's recent engagements include representation of an investment fund in providing mortgage financing for the development of a premier New York City tourist destination with a construction budget in excess of $500 million.

He also represented a private equity fund in the acquisition and financing of a Northeast-based chain of privately owned hospitals, in a transaction valued at more than $1 billion, the law firm states.

“Daniel has an impressive background in representing institutions and funds in a wide range of real estate acquisitions and financings,” says Keith Pattiz, head of McDermott's real estate practice. “He will increase the depth of our real estate practice, expand our capacity, and help us continue to grow our client base here in New York and internationally.”

Martin is admitted to practice in New York State and is a member of the American Bar Association, the Real Estate Board of New York and the Urban Land Institute.
