SECAUCUS, NJ—Hartz Mountain Industries has named James P. “Jay” Rhatican director of land use and development/assistant general counsel.
In his new position, Rhatican is responsible for coordinating and overseeing Hartz' commercial and industrial development activities, and will serve as liaison with state and local governmental agencies in connection with the design, planning, and implementation of all of Hartz' development projects.
Rhatican joins Hartz from the law firm of Chiesa Shaninian & Giantomasi, where he was a member of the firm's Real Estate, Development and Land Use Group. There he focused on the acquisition, financing, development, sale and leasing of commercial and industrial properties on both a regional and local basis. Rhatican also advised clients on redevelopment, land use and related environmental and regulatory matters. Before joining Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi, he previously practiced at Connell Foley.
Rhatican holds a BA in Government and Public Policy from the University of Notre Dame and a JD degree from Rutgers University School of Law, Newark, NJ.
