WASHINGTON, DC–SwingSpace, a local startup seeking to match office tenants with additional space to smaller companies seeking to sublease space, just highlighted one of its first deals.
OPX, a construct and design consultancy headquartered at 21 Dupont Circle, recently revamped its layout and decided to list the pockets of vacant space that resulted on SwingSpace's site. It got a taker: the DC office of ZogSports, a social sports organization.
ZogSports was in something of a bind, according to General Manager Kendra Hanson. The company had been told it had less than a week to move. It tapped into SwingSpace's website and inventory and found a new space within a few days.
The website is searchable based on number of employees that must be accommodated and rental rates. For example, at 3277 M St., NW there is a top floor of converted office space that can be leased in blocks of 1,145 square feet costing about $3,530 per month.
SwingSpace is a licensed broker. It was founded by 30-year industry veteran Richard McBride, who is also president and founder of McBride Real Estate Services and Zak Kidd, president and founder of DupontStudios.
McBride Real Estate, it appears, is also making use of the site. Per the website the company, which is located on the 7th floor of 21 Dupont Circle, has two private offices available for sublease. Rent is between $2,800-$3,000 per office and the security deposit is equal to one month's rent.
SwingSpace plans to expand service beyond Washington, DC during 2016 and 2017.
