DALLAS—Fast casual restaurants, with upscale ambiance and promises of higher-quality food, continue to be the driver of restaurant industry growth. Industry experts predict that fast casual will drive much of the sales growth in the restaurant industry for years to come, GlobeSt.com learns.
“The winning formula of high-quality menu items in upscale settings, with high-touch service at prices between fast food and casual dining, can be applied to any kind of food and is powering growth in segments from burgers and barbecue to sushi and pizza,” one expert said in a Fastcasual.com white paper.
What is considered by many to be the first fast casual pizza franchise, Your Pie, founded in Athens, GA by Drew French in 2008, is picking up steam. The North Texas franchisee of Your Pie has engaged Dallas-based Falcon Realty Advisors, a company that works exclusively with retail, restaurant and entertainment tenants, to advise on the North Texas expansion of its fast-casual pizza franchise.
The chain's first North Texas location is a 3,000-square-foot restaurant at 5110 Eldorado Pkwy. in Frisco, TX, which officially opened September 16.
Cal Marsh, director of national restaurant accounts with Falcon Realty Advisors' restaurant and entertainment group, will continue to lead the search for additional locations across the North Texas area during the next three years, with the restaurant continuing to grow at a rapid clip. Your Pie has 34 locations across 13 states, with plans to open 11 restaurants by the end of 2016.
Falcon Realty Advisors is seeking 2,500 to 3,000-square-foot-range spaces in middle-income markets across the North Texas area for Your Pie locations. Preferred locations are corner or shopping center end caps with outside patios, healthy residential densities and high-density retail corridors. Suitable co-tenants include theaters, coffee shops, specialty grocers and complimentary fast casual users.
“Over the next three years, Falcon will advise Your Pie on its North Texas expansion and navigate the quick-fire pizza concept to continued success within such a competitive market for fast-casual restaurants,” Marsh tells GlobeSt.com.
The quick-fire pizza chain considers itself a pioneer in the fast casual pizza concept that allows customers to customize individual pies by choosing white, wheat or gluten-free crusts and a variety of toppings, and have fun in the process. With fresh ingredients and individually sized hand-tossed dough, the pie is delivered to the table hot from the 800-degree brick oven in just 4 minutes.
Much as Your Pie has done, as more brands enter the segment, fast casual restaurants will have to adapt in order to continue growth. These modified models can be accomplished by incorporating new technologies, expanding menus and stepping up the service offer to customers.
