BALTIMORE, MD–Marcus & Millichap is opening a new office in Baltimore to better serve that market. Up until now it has been serving the city and surrounding areas from its Washington DC office.

Bryn Merrey, senior vice president/division manager of the firm's Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern offices, will oversee the new office.

The new Baltimore office is staffed by eight agents who have relocated from the Washington DC office. This includes a retail team led by Chris Burnham, a hospitality team, a multifamily team and an office and industrial team.

“Our agents in Baltimore are energized by the opportunity to work closely with clients in the region and leverage Marcus & Millichap's investment specialization, financing capabilities, industry-leading research, comprehensive management support and innovative technology on their behalf,” Merrey says in a prepared statement.

Transactions that Marcus & Millichap has closed in Baltimore include 33 South Gay St., Church Lane Shopping Center, the Baltimore Veteran's Affairs Annex, and the Reisterstown Shopping Center.

Brokers have been investing more in the Baltimore market in recent years. To cite one example, last year JLL acquired CIB Management, a commercial property manager and CIB, a provider of brokerage services in order to expand its footprint in the market.
