FRISCO, TX—The 175-acre Wade Park, along the Dallas North Tollway, is a major part of the ambitious $5 Billion Mile economic development program, totaling some 550 acres of office, retail, residential and hospitality development, all of which is expected to generate more than 70,000 new jobs in the next few years, GlobeSt.com learns. The Wade Park development encompasses $2 billion of the $5 billion in total developments. Frisco Station, The Gate and The Star, the Cowboys headquarters, account for the remaining $5 billion-plus in investments.

Financing to the tune of $82.75 million has been secured for development of the Wade Park mixed-use project. Groundbreaking was in late 2014 and phase one opened in the spring of 2016. The financing was provided by Gamma Real Estate.

“Gamma is very proud to play a role in one of the most significant development projects in the nation,” says Jonathan Kalikow, president of Gamma Real Estate. “Frisco is one of the country's fastest growing cities, averaging nearly 6% population growth annually in recent years. Wade Park will be a timely boon for this important bedroom community serving Dallas and Fort Worth.”

Named after its former owners, the prominent Wade family, Wade Park is a project of Atlanta-based Thomas Land & Development Company, which is active throughout the Southeast. Thomas Land & Development purchased the land from the Wade family in 2013, GlobeSt.com learns. The development will comprise 1 million square feet of retail space, up to 6 million square feet of office space, 2,800 luxury apartments and two hotels.

Anchored by Whole Foods, iPic Theaters and Pinstripes Inc., a total of 600,000 square feet of specialty retail includes national fashion retailers along with restaurants all in a village format. This retail space mingles with office space, in both over-retail and office tower formats.

Residents of Wade Park range from young professionals and families to empty nesters. There are 1,300 units—some over-retail and others in dense-wrap style condominiums and 127 single-family homes. A boutique hotel and a luxury hotel serve up a total of 500 rooms. These residences, offices and hotels are in walking distance to entertainment options including bowling, a movie theater and nightlife.

As previously reported, Frisco and many other cities are seeing the impact of companies relocating to Texas.
