Lew Horne

SAN DIEGO—Lew Horne's new role at CBRE, which includes overseeing the San Diego and Hawaii markets, is a sign of willingness to listen and adapt, which has led to its success, he tells GlobeSt.com. The recently appointed Horne as president of the company's newly formed Southern California-Hawaii Division, where he will now have executive oversight for the San Diego and Hawaii markets, in addition to Greater Los Angeles and Orange County.

A long-time leader for CBRE in the Americas Region and division president for Greater Los Angeles and Orange County since 2005, Horne will now oversee 16 regional offices, including Downtown Los Angeles, L.A. North, Beverly Hills, South Bay, Newport Beach, Ontario, San Diego and Honolulu. We spoke with Horne about his new role and the firm's strategy in San Diego and Hawaii.

GlobeSt.com: What do you hope to achieve in your new role?

Horne: My primary focus is on organizing and aligning our more than a dozen offices in the region in order to capitalize on our company's best practices and deliver great outcomes to our clients. Our customers generally don't draw geographic boundary lines, so we shouldn't either; instead, we are focused on creating advantage for our clients by streamlining our ability to provide consistent service and drive exceptional outcomes across the entire Southern California-Hawaii Division.

GlobeSt.com: What is your firm's strategy in the San Diego and Hawaii region?

Horne: We've got great local leadership in San Diego and Hawaii. CBRE's success as a firm is founded on having the best talent in the business, and that includes extremely knowledgeable and competent local leadership. I will be working closely with all of our market leaders to combine our firm's best practices with their incredible local know-how. Through increased collaboration, we can deliver better strategic outcomes to our clients that reach far beyond local boundaries.

GlobeSt.com: What else should readers know about this expansion of your role?

Horne: In today's world, client needs are always changing, so we are continuously listening, learning and adjusting in order to deliver unmatched outcomes every day. This willingness to listen and adapt has helped us to consistently outpace industry growth. Expanding my role to include San Diego and Hawaii is just another illustration of that kind of adaptability. It will help us to better align this region and serve our clients in the most cohesive and collaborative way so they can make the kind of decisions that will benefit them well beyond local boundaries.
