Industry City building 19

NEW YORK CITY—ABC Carpet & Home has agreed to join a growing list of design and home furnishings companies at Industry City—the 16-building, six-million-square-foot manufacturing complex on the waterfront in the Sunset Park section of Brooklyn.

The locally-based purveyor of home goods is consolidating its operations in the Bronx and Hackensack, NJ into a 78,000-square-foot space on the first and fifth floors of Industry City's Building 19. Located at 168 39th St., the building offers 13-foot ceilings and large floor plates. It also is home to the Brooklyn Nets' practice center.

Industry City's director of leasing, Kathe Chase, led the deal alongside Chase Welles of Shopping Center Group, which has been brought on to the project to lease the property's ground floor spaces. ABC Carpet did not have broker representation for the deal. Rents at Industry City range from $15 to $35 per square foot.

“ABC Carpet & Home's move to Industry City strengthens the home furnishings industry's presence here, adding yet another well-established brand to our growing roster of tenants, and bringing jobs to Sunset Park—including some from New Jersey,” says Andrew Kimball, CEO of Industry City.

The mix of  design and home furnishings companies at the Brooklyn complex includes Coral & Tusk, Danielle Trofe, Design Within Reach, Egg Collective, Fresh Kills, Juniper Design, Lights Up!, Lindsey Adelman Studio, Rebecca Atwood, Rich Brilliant Willing, Roll & Hill, Shakuff, Studio A+I, and West Elm.

Since 2013, Industry City has invested over $200 million in property upgrades, leased more than 2.5 million square feet of space, and tripled the number of people working at the complex from 1,900 to over 6,000 people today. By 2025, the redevelopment of Industry City—led by Belvedere Capital and Jamestown—is expected to top $1 billion and generate a total of 20,000 jobs.
