DALLAS—In 2000, downtown Dallas had less than 200 residents. In slightly more than 15 years, its population has grown to more than 45,000 residents within the downtown's 15 districts (approximately 10,000 of those in the core) and a daytime workforce of 150,000 in the urban core alone.
The Drever, formerly the First National Bank of Dallas building at 1401 Elm St., is located on an entire city block at Elm Street, Pacific Avenue, Akard Street and N. Field Street in the Main Street District. Plans include multifamily, hotel, retail, restaurants, office, spa and parking. The 50-story 1.5-million-square-foot skyscraper is designed to offer a residential and boutique hotel option with public and private spaces.
The design team at Merriman Anderson/Architects recently updated renderings for the ninth floor amenity deck at The Drever. This outdoor oasis in the heart of downtown will be available to building residents as well as guests of the hotel. In addition, guests and residents will be able to take advantage of dining and bars on the ground level and floors 9, 10, 49 and 50.
The amenity deck will feature an infinity pool with cabanas, dog park with doggie daycare and grooming, outdoor fitness area with green space for yoga and exercise classes, grilling areas with outdoor kitchens, bocce ball, putting green, numerous lounge areas, spa and restaurant, and a pool deck with bar.
“The most unique things about the amenity deck are that the hotel guests and residents of the residential floors will share some amenities: the pool, fitness center, dog park, golf swing rooms and spa. The residents will have access to the hotel's housekeeping services and in-room dining,” Maxwell Drever, chairman of Drever Capital Management, tells GlobeSt.com. “The design team worked with both Thompson Hotels and Lincoln Property Company to design shared amenities and also create private spaces for the residents. This gives residents the ability to enjoy resort-style amenities daily while also having access to their own spaces.”
The Main Street District is home to landmark destinations including Neiman Marcus' flagship store and headquarters, the Joule Hotel and the new home of Forty Five Ten (a 38,000-square-foot high-end retailer).
