WASHINGTON, DC–Benjamin Wilson has left Marcus & Millichap to join Greysteel as a senior investment associate. He will also be leading Greysteel's new Urban Commercial Property sales group in the Washington, DC area. The group is in part an answer to Gil Neuman's departure earlier this year.

GlobeSt.com spoke to Wilson, who joined Greysteel last month, to find out more about his new position.

What our focus will be on

Urban, infill, retail and mixed-use type assets. These are privately-held assets and the clients tend to own one to five properties. Very often these transactions represent a major portion of the owner's net wealth.

About replacing Gil Newman

Yes I am replacing him but I would say there is more overlap between Greysteel's multifamily group and what I am doing compared to what he and I are doing.

About the team

Lauren McCormack and Max Freedman, Investment Associates in Greysteel's DC office have joined the team. The goal is to expand further eventually but our immediate focus is on getting up and running and serving the inventory we have now.

What is in our pipeline

We are working on two Mt. Pleasant deals that we will bring out shortly.

Other expansion plans we have

We are also looking to expand into other major metro areas like Baltimore and Annapolis. That is in process right now. Greysteel does have a Baltimore but it doesn't have a retail/mixed-use team. We don't plan on opening offices in those locations but will be working on deals in those markets.
