NEW YORK CITY—Retail brokerage veteran Howard Gilbert has joined ABS Partners Real Estate as an executive managing director.
One of Gilbert's notable deals was when he and his team was responsible for Forever 21's entry into the New York market, first securing its flagship store in Times Square and then handling other additional locations in Manhattan for the retailer. Other notable Gilbert clients include: Stawski Partners, MetLife, Vornado Realty Trust and Tishman Speyer Properties.
Gilbert, who has 37 years commercial brokerage experience, was a senior managing director at Newmark Knight Frank prior to joining ABS Partners Real Estate, where he will focus on retail leasing, in addition to landlord representation at various New York City office properties, including those within ABS' property portfolio.
“As ABS continues to grow, we're committed to sourcing top-tier talent to join our team. Howard's years of expertise and knowledge will not only help to grow our direct business, but will also attract and mentor younger brokers that want to immerse themselves in this industry,” says Gregg Schenker, president and co-managing partner at ABS Partners.
Gilbert previously worked at Robert K. Futterman & Associates and Garrick Aug Associates.
“I'm looking forward to the opportunities to invest alongside the partners and to growing the ABS retail team,” Gilbert says. “Despite the climate of the retail market, ABS has a strong retail business that we intend to further improve over the next several months.”
Gilbert is an active member of REBNY and the International Council of Shopping Centers. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
