NEW YORK CITY—Group Nine Media, which operates such websites as Thrillist, NowThis, The Dodo and Seeker, has undertaken a significant expansion of its headquarter space at 568 Broadway. The firm's larger space is to help accommodate the expected 200 new workers the company will employ in the next 12 months.

The technology firm has signed a lease renewal for 40,000 square feet on the fourth, fifth and sixth floors, and will now also lease approximately 60,000 square feet encompassing the entire 10th and 11th floors of the 12-story, 342,000 square-foot building in SoHo.

CBRE's Derrick Ades, Ben Fastenberg, Tim Dempsey and Cara Chayet represented Group Nine Media in the deal. Building owners, Aurora Capital and Allied Partners, were represented by Steven Bauer, Howard Hersch and Brett Harvey of JLL in-house by Bonnie Shapiro.

“We're excited to be able to expand Group Nine's HQ—right in the heart of SoHo where many of our brands were founded,” says Eric Ashman, president of Group Nine Media. “We have ambitious growth plans for the future, with the goal of hiring an additional 200 employees within the next year—and this expansion will provide us with the space we need to support that growth.”

When tenant build-out is complete, Group Nine will have its own building entrance on Crosby Street with branded lobby and dedicated elevator to its floors. Group Nine is expected to move into the new space in the late summer of 2018.

The expansion ratchets up Group Nine's total New York City office space to nearly 130,000 square feet with additional locations at 100 Crosby St. and a production studio in Chelsea. The company also has offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
