NEW YORK CITY—Madison International Realty has hired Kyle Torpey as director of investments, as the real estate private equity firm grows its investment team. He'll be among those responsible for the origination, underwriting and execution of Madison's transactions in both US and global markets.
“We continue to expand our investment team as our domestic and international transactions have increased in both complexity and size,” says Ronald Dickerman, Madison's founder and president. “Kyle brings extensive experience in the real estate investment sector from dynamic as well as prestigious firms. Madison prides itself on bringing innovative equity capital solutions to world-class sponsors seeking a supportive partner. He will be a highly valuable addition in this endeavor and we welcome him to Madison.”
Torpey joins Madison from Goldman Sachs, where he had been a VP in the real estate investment banking division, focused on M&A and capital markets, since late 2013. Previously, he served as an associate in real estate investment banking at Lazard, and before that at UBS in a similar capacity.
Last week, Madison and Forest City Realty Trust reached an agreement for the Cleveland-based REIT to sell its majority stake in 12 specialty retail properties in the New York City area to Madison for $1 billion. Madison has held a 49% interest in the portfolio since 2011.
