PLANO, TX—No longer viewed as a standalone market, Dallas-Fort Worth has gained national status due to its central location, population growth and business-friendly practices. In response to these data center-friendly attributes, travel tech provider Sabre Corporation recently signed a colocation agreement in Aligned Energy's uptime institute tier III-certified adaptive data center.
“Travel simply cannot happen without Sabre technology, and we are driven to transform the industry by delivering innovative ways to plan, purchase and enjoy the perfect travel experience,” said Vish Saoji, chief technology officer of Sabre. “We selected Aligned Energy as our primary data center partner for their ability to support our rapid innovation, implementation and quality product development as we build out our platform, SaaS and cloud strategies.”
Aligned Energy is an infrastructure technology company that offers colocation and build-to-scale solutions to cloud, enterprise and managed service. By partnering with Aligned Energy, Sabre's operations will use up to 85% less water and up to 80% less power than workloads deployed in traditional facilities, coinciding with Sabre's dedication to reducing the environmental impact of facilities and resulting in a lower total cost of ownership.
“Sabre serves a market that demands steadfast reliability and uptime alongside incredibly fast response times,” said Andrew Schaap, CEO of Aligned Energy. “Through our adaptive hyper-efficient technology and highly reliable infrastructure, we look forward to supporting Sabre's acceleration to open source and cloud-based solutions that enable quicker innovation, stability and security.”
Schaap recently discussed the advantages of the North Texas location, Aligned Energy's capabilities and data center trends in this exclusive.
GlobeSt.com: Is Plano's growth blast the impetus for this data center location?
Schaap: The Dallas/North Texas market has really taken off. It is the number two market in the country for growth.
GlobeSt.com: What else does the location offer tenants in the way of advantages?
Schaap: Texas has made significant investments in energy and the deregulated electricity market has resulted in low electricity costs. It also provides for a highly networked hyperscale location.
GlobeSt.com: Please explain more in depth as to how tenants benefit from flexible colocation services and substantial cost savings.
Schaap: Aligned Energy's data center infrastructure is unique in that it responds to both standard and dynamic workloads with flexible rack densities of up to 50 kilowatts or 1000 watts per square foot, enabling customers to deploy computational applications without latency or disruption.
Part of the reason I recently joined Aligned Energy is its ability for futureproofing or infrastructure for just in time delivery, expansion and uncertainty. Aligned Energy approaches client problems and then solves them. For example, we don't offer a fixed square footage but rather flexibility in infrastructure; a nimble, just in time approach. There is no need to reserve space; there is a nimbleness in infrastructure and different verticals at different pressure points.
GlobeSt.com: Explain the data operations associated with less water and energy consumption leading to reduced costs.
Schaap: What's notable, in addition to the flexibility and adaptiveness of the data centers, are the sustainability features. Aligned's systems deliver efficiency at any load in any climate to support clients' stewardship goals regardless of location. Aligned's cooling technology utilizes up to 80% less energy and 85% less water to reduce resource usage, improve the environmental impact and lower the total cost of ownership. In addition, Aligned Energy's agile data center and intelligent infrastructure solutions are engineered to continuously improve economic and environmental performance, and guarantee a Power Usage Effectiveness/PUE of 1.15.
GlobeSt.com: What other data center trends are currently at the forefront?
Schaap: Data center infrastructure has been static thus far but companies such as Aligned Energy that can offer ramp up/ramp down space will lead to more efficient PUEs.
