NEW YORK CITY–Nearly 200 people rallied on Wednesday night for zoning in the Village and East Village. The protest was held across from the four low-rise buildings on the northeast corner of Third Ave. and St. Mark's Place. Those structures will be demolished for Real Estate Equities Corporation's construction of a $150 million office building. Citing multiple, large-scale buildings underway in the neighborhood, the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation wants approval of the Union Square Tech Hub contingent upon zoning protections against overdevelopment.
