BETHESDA, MD–Both Marriott International and Hilton Hotels are experimenting with advanced technology to stay competitive and keep abreast with their guests' expectations.

This week Marriott International announced it has teamed up with Samsung and Legrand to launch an Internet of Things, or IoT, Guestroom Lab where the companies will be trying out such scenarios as a user asking a virtual assistant for a wake up call and while it is at it, to start the shower at the temperature the guest likes. Both voice commands and apps will be part of the mix, Marriott said.

“By teaming with best-in-class partners, we are leveraging mobile and voice-enabled technology to give our guests the ability to set up the room to best meets their needs – whether that is creating the ultimate relaxation environment or one that enables productivity for business travelers,” said Stephanie Linnartz, Global Chief Commercial Officer, in a statement.
