CBRE fireplace in lobby

SAN DIEGO—Changes to modern offices are about making people feel welcome and comfortable, as seen in CBRE's new offices at Westfield UTC. As GlobeSt.com reported in December 2016, CBRE now occupies the entire 32,336-square-foot third floor of a newly developed building that is part of Westfield UTC's ongoing expansion and revitalization. Located at the intersection of La Jolla Village Dr. and Genesee Ave., the building is situated as a primary entrance of the center and includes a concierge staff and valet service for CBRE employees and clients. GlobeSt.com recently paid a visit and got a personal tour of the space.

As managing director Paul Komadina and senior communications specialist Erin Caffrey gave us the tour, one of the phrases that kept cropping up was “hotel feel.” Like the Alexandria at Torrey Pines by Alexandria Real Estate Equities Inc. not far away, CBRE's new Workplace360 space is both welcoming to guests and catering to what makes employees most productive: comfort and ease of use. This is achieved via accessible food options, leading-edge technology, natural lighting and a multitude of free-address workstation choices that allow for collaboration as well as heads-down work and spaces for private meetings and phone calls.

Moving across the street from a multi-story office building to Westfield's mall setting and condensing from two floors to one has created relationships and synergies among employees, said Komadina. It's easy to see why, since the lobby alone seems as ready for an impromptu office party as for a grand business presentation. Below, some photos from our visit.
