NEW YORK CITY—Four Times Square is leveraging today’s heightened interest in food trends to attract and maintain tenants. The Durst Organization, which owns the 1.8 million square-foot tower, is teaming up with the Michelin-starred, Nordic culinary restauranteur Claus Meyer, and the work hospitality company, Convene, to offer trendy, updated amenities for people who work in the building.

With the $35 million project, Studio Architecture redesigned the 45,600 square-foot fourth floor. Meyer will operate an in-house, private food destination, including a food hall with locally sourced products and beverages, and rotating vendors. Meyer’s Brownsville Roasters coffee bar will open in early 2018. The area will also include corporate catering and ready-to-go options.

The Frank Gehry designed cafeteria, originally created for the former tenant, Condé Nast, will remain as an architectural centerpiece on the floor. The magazine publisher left Four Times Square, making headlines as a high profile tenant moving into One World Trade Center, when it opened in November 2014.

Convene signed a management agreement with Durst to operate a 20,000 square-foot meeting, event, conference and alternate work space, on the same floor. This area will include technology infrastructure improvements and will be staffed by a meeting planning team.

The Durst Organization recently completed a $140 million capital improvement program, which renovated the lobby and entrances, and upgraded the elevator system.

The building’s current tenants include the law firm, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, NASDAQ MarketSite, H&M, SS & C Technologies and ICAP. However, Skadden signed a 20-year lease to relocate to One Manhattan West, in the Hudson Yards district, in the spring of 2020.
