Steve Fifield

Density is coming to L.A., and many believe that the best solution to a denser Los Angeles is through large-scale apartment projects. Thankfully, Century West Partners is working on two massive projects in already dense areas: Next on Lex, a 494-unit apartment project in Downtown Glendale and The Lincoln Collection, an apartment project in Downtown Santa Monica with 280 units. Each of the project's tremendous size allows the developer to include amenities that are typically reserved for suburban sprawl.

“We just started our first building in the Lincoln Collection. We are processing permits to start in late spring on the second phase,” Steve Fifield, co-founder and principal at Century West Partners, tells GlobeSt.com. “Those two buildings together will make up the largest apartment project in Downtown Santa Monica. Santa Monica buildings tend to be 50 to 100 units with very little amenities. We are going to really be able to go bigger.”

The Glendale project is larger, but is making a similar splash in the market, thanks to its size. “We have the largest project in Glendale as well. It is 494 units, so it has the scale to be able to include a lot of amenities,” says Fifield. “It is four interconnected buildings that have passages in between. Because of the topography of the land, we were able to include different levels. It is going to be a great project as well.”
