NEW YORK CITY—Newmark Knight Frank has hired Matt Duthie to oversee and direct property management services in the New York metro region.
As regional director of management services, Duthie will also be responsible for all new business development activities, operational performance of properties, maximizing clients' real estate assets and recruiting.
Randy Buddemeyer, co-president of management services at NKF, tells GlobeSt.com that as one of six regional leaders, Duthie will be integrating services of property management, office leasing and investment sales in New York. “It is not a new position but has all along been a strategy to best serve and maximize investor services,” he says.
Buddemeyer noted Duthie's strong track record and reputation in the industry saying, “As our corporate headquarters are in New York, we were looking to build our agency leasing in the market and reached out to Matt awhile back.”
“As a leader in Manhattan property management, Matt brings a broad base of experience and skills that will drive improved operating performance and enhance values while working with our leasing and NKF capital markets professionals,” says Steven Adamczyk, co-president of management services at NKF.
Duthie has worked in commercial real estate management for more than 32 years. Most recently he was a managing director at Jones Lang LaSalle for nearly eight years, where he led the firm's property management group in New York City, having responsibility for a 15 million square-foot office portfolio.
Previously, he was an EVP at Ruben Companies overseeing property management and construction. He also served as SVP, co-director of Reckson Associates, Manhattan division, where he handled daily operations of its six million square-foot portfolio of office properties. He had also worked in construction, rounding out his experience in asset management, building operations, property enhancement programs, financial management, capital improvement projects, contract and vendor supervision and leasing.
Duthie replaced Dennis Sherry, who worked as NKF's regional director of management services in New York from April 2014 through July 2017.
Duthie served as the chairman and remains a member of the board of directors for the Real Estate Board of New York. He is a vice president and a member of the board of directors for the New York Energy Consumer Council, and an officer and board member of the Building Owners and Managers Association.
