NEW YORK CITY—More than 780 New York real estate professionals attended a friendly and festive event, mingling over cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, dinner, and an awards ceremony, followed by dessert, with more socializing. The evening started at 5:30 pm and lasted through 10:00 pm at Chelsea Piers.

"The annual event gives us the chance to shine a spotlight on the impressive accomplishments, both of individuals as well as collective project teams. In doing so, we hope to not only reward the remarkable work completed throughout the past year, but to highlight the standards we all strive toward while promoting the continuous progress of the way we work," wrote Ronald S. Zeccardi, the Building Owners & Managers Association of New York (BOMA NY) president in a program message.

Ten awards were given, plus the Grand Pinnacle. All of the building nominees, except for those submitted for the New Construction Award which has different criterion, were judged by the building's programs, successes and achievements; building standards; community impact; tenant relations; energy conservation; environmental, regulatory and sustainability practices; emergency preparedness; training; and building inspections.

Different types of buildings compete in different categories such as historical building, new construction or government building. The winner of the Grand Pinnacle Award receives the highest overall score of all of the submissions in each of the individual building categories. The Hearst Tower, Tishman Speyer Properties, took home this top honor.

Some of its distinctive accomplishments include being New York City's first LEED Gold office tower. It then became the first existing, operating building to achieve a LEED Platinum rating. Subsequently it reached a Double Platinum rating, and became the country's first publicly acknowledged, triple LEED-certified building.
