BETHESDA, MD–Walker & Dunlop has created a new business unit for structured finance staffed by seven equity placement brokers located across the US. These brokers will focus on sourcing and placing joint venture equity, preferred equity, mezzanine financing, and construction financing, on projects nationwide.
The group will be led by Chris Harris, senior vice president. Walker & Dunlop plans to tap domestic and foreign capital providers including life insurance companies, pension fund advisors, institutional and family office funds, and REITs for this initiative.
The team members include Harris, Jamie Butler, who will serve the Mid-Atlantic and Kris Mikkelsen and Kevin O'Grady, who will focus on the southeast. In the West there will be Mark Strauss and Gabe Weinert and in the Pacific Northwest, Eric McGlynn.
