ATLANTA—Berkadia hired Russ Hardy as managing director of its Atlanta office. He will work in conjunction with an investment sales team led by senior managing directors Andrew Mays and Paul Vetter, who have closed over $1.1 billion in apartment sales over the last two years alone.
“Russ brings a strong combination of energy, charisma and transactional experience, which meshes perfectly with our Atlanta-based investment sales team,” says Keith Misner, senior vice president and head of Investment Sales at Berkadia. “His proven track record and commitment to client service will immediately impact our team.”
Hardy brings extensive multifamily investment sales experience to Berkadia, joining the organization from JLL, where he was a senior vice president for a team that transacted over $7.5 billion in sales over five years. During his career, Hardy has been directly involved in the sales and marketing of more than $2 billion in institutional multifamily assets across the Southeast. He specializes in multifamily properties across a variety of construction types, geographies and risk profiles.
Berkadia is making this move at a time when multifamily industry watchers remain bullish on the landscape, especially in the Southeast. Kurt M. Westfield, managing partner at WC Equity Group, sees a season of winning.
“I believe the coming 12 to 24 months will be beneficial to, both buyers and sellers,” Westfield says. “Sellers will have the opportunity to defer or retain profits while marketing at low caps due to a new pool of buyers seeking commercial real estate assets due to increased capital from tax reform.”
Beyond his experience at JLL, Hardy also worked for the boutique private equity firm Westplan Investors, a closed-end real estate investment fund creator and manager, where he focused on class A multifamily assets in the Southeast and new development opportunities. Hardy started his career in commercial real estate with Bell Partners, an apartment investment and management company focused on high-quality multifamily communities throughout the United States.
Hardy earned a bachelor's degree in management with a marketing concentration from the Georgia Institute of Technology and earned a Master of Business Administration in finance and a Master of Science in real estate from Georgia State University. He also served proudly in the United States Marine Corps.
