Scotiabank is opening its Camana Bay location in April 2018, joining PwC and other international financial firms headquartered in the Town Centre. The bank will move into Dart Real Estate's 18 Forum Lane.

As GlobeSt.com previously reported, 18 Forum Lane was recently the recent recipient of the Cayman Islands Governor's Award for Design and Construction Excellence and the first LEED Gold-certified commercial building in the Cayman Islands.

Scotiabank's new digital branch facility – Scotia Centre – will occupy almost 20,000 square feet of space over two floors of the building, which offers some of the best-situated space in the Grand Cayman commercial real estate market.

Jackie Doak, president of Dart Real Estate says that “Scotiabank represents the type of financial services firms that choose to operate from Camana Bay, underlining our mutual commitment to the Cayman Islands and providing customers and tenants alike access to world-class amenities.”

When GlobeSt.com visited Camana Bay in January, we chatted with Dart's Daniel Purdy, VP of leasing about what draws tenants like Scotiabank to the Cayman Islands. He said that Cayman has historically been known as a financial center, but there has been a recent increase in demand for class A office space financial tenants that are requiring less space.

At the time, Purdy also told us that Camana Bay's location specifically, provides access to amenities, which include banking, shopping, dining, gyms, health services and retail outlets. Tenants are also drawn to the spaces because they are sustainable, modern, storm resistant, high quality office space that can easily be customized to suit the needs of their employees, he said.

Offering almost 700,000 square feet of class-A Grand Cayman commercial property for lease, Camana Bay has become a hub of financial services, with international law, accounting and reinsurance firms choosing to base their Cayman Islands operations here. Amenities include over 300 parking spaces directly adjacent to 18 Forum Lane, as well as shops, restaurants, fitness and medical facilities and the island's only cinema just steps away.

Scotiabank's new branch will be the first fully digital banking branch in the Cayman Islands, offering an on-site banking concierge, social hubs and modern branch facilities, making living in Grand Cayman easier than ever.

On our visit to the Cayman Islands, we asked Doak what she thought set Camana Bay apart from other mixed-use projects and she said that many mixed-use projects are static and built within certain parameters, but that isn't how Camana Bay was planned from the onset.

She said that the goal was to ensure those who live, work and invest in Camana Bay have both their needs and wishes met. “We see ourselves as a leader in creating spaces for class A commercial entities that lend themselves to increased productivity and efficiency for their company. It is the way in which we plan and build that makes that unique offering possible.”
