NEW YORK CITY—It has been a busy week for SL Green Realty Corp. In addition to leasing out three floors at One Vanderbilt Ave. to The Carlyle Group, the city's largest office landlord signed three leases spanning 43,493 square feet at 711 Third Ave.

The Birthright Israel Foundation, a nonprofit that raises funds in the US to support Birthright Israel, signed a 15-year, 19,025 square-foot lease for the entire 10th floor. This organization supports 10-day, free, educational trips to Israel for young adults of Jewish heritage.

The law firm, Barton, relocated from SL Green's 420 Lexington Ave., signing a 12-year lease, also for 19,025 square feet.

The Security Council Report, which advances the transparency of the UN Security Council, signed a seven-year, 5,443 square-foot lease for office space on the 15th floor. The organization makes available timely, balanced, high-quality information about the UN Security Council and its subsidiary bodies. Currently, it is located at One Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza, 885 Second Ave. at 48th Street.

“Midtown East continues to be the leading home for companies of all types to grow their businesses. The neighborhood's central location and unrivaled access to public transportation is a tremendous amenity for all tenant employees,” says Steve Durels, EVP and director of leasing and real property at SL Green. He adds that the three new tenants increase the building occupancy to almost 97% leased.

Other major tenants include Ricoh Americas Corp., McKinsey & Company Inc. and Golenbock Eiseman.

Located between 44th and 45th streets, the 550,651 square-foot office tower, one block from Grand Central Terminal, was built in 1955, according to Real Capital Analytics. In 1956, abstract expressionist painter Hans Hofmann created a mosaic, extending the length of the wall near the lobby elevators. Designed by William Lescaze, the lobby came to exemplify modern architecture, showcasing its public art at the entrance.
