Co-Working Rebrand Focuses on Tech/Energy
The newly christened McClellan Innovation Center, an 8,000-square-foot office, can accommodate up to 100 guests per day with flexible temporary or long-term desk leasing for individuals and companies.
SACRAMENTO—McClellan Park is rebranding its coworking space. The newly christened McClellan Innovation Center, formerly named Valley Extends, will debut this week at 3140 Peacekeeper Way.
The 8,000-square-foot office can accommodate up to 100 guests per day with flexible temporary and long-term desk leasing for individuals and companies. Nicknamed MIC, the McClellan Innovation Center more accurately describes the facility’s clientele and creative atmosphere. The rebrand also includes improving the operations and services available at the center.
“Our rebranding is intended to focus more specifically on the burgeoning technologies growing in the region, including alternative energy, agriculture, medical and clean technology businesses,” Ken Giannotti, senior vice president of McClellan Park, tells GlobeSt.com. “We are providing workspace that encourages community involvement, mentoring and other educational resources.”
MIC will open with several tenants including Enerdapt, Swiss Monkey, XYO Network, Kick Factory, Drone University and California Disabled Veteran Business Alliance. Tenant activities span many sectors and encompass mainly technology companies but also other small businesses that need flexible addresses and convenient business services.
“The McClellan Innovation Center is a truly unique space that will allow companies to collaborate and grow their business in the heart of the Sacramento region,” said Larry Kelley, president of McClellan Park. “Our business campus offers companies working out of the MIC the ability to expand on-site, regardless of their sector.”
Membership includes free parking, 24-hour on-site security, and access to meeting rooms, a kitchen and dining space. Hot Desk membership starts at $125 per month and allows members to work at any open desk. Permanent Desk membership starts at $250 per month, and provides members with 24-hour access to the facility and a reserved desk space.
“We are working to create a strong sense of community at the MIC through regular events and hands-on workshops for both members and the larger community,” said Graham McBain, community director of McClellan Innovation Center. “In addition to the amenities the MIC directly offers, the McClellan Park business campus also has many restaurants, fitness centers and lodging.”
While increased office leasing activity is scattered throughout the greater Sacramento area, the Highway 50 Corridor submarket is pushing forward, leading the area in activity with a reported 107,044 square feet leased in the quarter, according to a second quarter office report from Kidder Mathews.
Lease rates climbed to $1.70 per square foot market-wide, the highest in seven consecutive years. Overall lease rates for class-A buildings were a reported $2.23 per square foot at the close of the quarter, and class-B and -C buildings ranged from $1.42 to $1.71 per square foot.
