Public Storage Expands Presence in Minneapolis Region

MINNEAPOLIS—Public Storage has added six storage locations in the greater Minneapolis area, increasing its portfolio here by 12%.
The new Minneapolis-area Public Storage locations are located across the Twin Cities’ metro area, from Downtown Minneapolis to the nearby suburbs of Lakeville, Edina, New Hope, Bloomington, and to the City of Hutchinson.
“These locations make us more competitive in Minneapolis and give us a larger footprint in the Twin Cities,” says Ryan Nelson, a Public Storage regional manager. “People are moving from rural areas in the state to the urban and suburban markets, and the population shift is driving the area’s development and the need for storage.”
The recent openings are part of a decade-long expansion that has seen Public Storage open approximately 50 storage locations across the state of Minnesota.
The six locations acquired by Public Storage this week are all newer properties or remodeled ones with state-of-the-art features. Some of the new Public Storage locations include climate-controlled units and drive-up storage spaces.
In July, Public Storage opened more than 700 new indoor storage units today in the Silicon Valley. The new building is between existing Public Storage structures and replaces a former vehicle storage lot.
The more than 700 new storage units opened at Public Storage at 1080 Pecten Court in Milpitas, CA, brought the total number of units at the facility to more than 1,200.
