HERNDON, VA—Saying it developed the hotel with Amazon and its $5-billion second corporate headquarters in mind, hotel operator MCR has opened its Courtyard by Marriott Dulles Herndon fully expecting the e-commerce giant's final decision to be Northern Virginia.

While Amazon has stated the HQ2 decision will come sometime later this year, analysts and oddsmakers are postulating about where Amazon will develop this massive second headquarters location and when it will make the pronouncement. MCR is confident that in the end, no matter when the decision is reached whether it is before or after the mid-term elections, Northern Virginia will come out on top.

The new six-story 187-room Courtyard by Marriott Dulles Herndon is located five miles from Washington Dulles International Airport in the technology corridor dubbed “the Silicon Valley of the East.”

“We developed the Courtyard by Marriott Dulles Airport Herndon with Amazon.com in mind,” says Tyler Morse, CEO and managing partner of MCR and MORSE Development. “In our hotel, the area's tech work force will have flexible spaces and free lightning fast Wi-Fi to stream, shop and work online.”

New York City-based MCR makes the case for the region, pointing out that Northern Virginia has the second-largest concentration of technology jobs in any major market, serving eight Fortune 500 companies and Defense Department contracts. The company adds that Northern Virginia is home to more than 10 million square feet of data centers and Herndon hosts 70% of the world's Internet traffic each day. Another positive for the Dulles Tech Corridor is the fact that the Washington Metro Silver Line will connect Herndon with Washington Dulles International Airport by 2020.

For those reasons, MCR states that the region is the frontrunner for Amazon HQ2, which would total 8 million square feet and house 50,000 employees Amazon employees.

MCR also points to Sports oddsmaker Bovada, which last month selected Northern Virginia as the Amazon HQ2 winner, with Washington, DC coming in second for the massive requirement.

The hotel is located at 13715 Sayward Blvd. and also features free fast Wi-Fi; The Bistro, which serves breakfast and dinner, snacks, cocktails and Starbucks coffee; a 24-hour fitness center with cardio equipment and free weights; a business library with computer stations; a complimentary airport shuttle; on-site laundry service and 910 square feet of meeting space.
