KANSAS CITY—The current multifamily boom is not confined to the nation's primary cities. Secondary cities are also seeing a lot of activity, especially in historic neighborhoods that renters consider highly desirable. And Downtown Kansas City and other nearby areas are getting their share. The Opus Group, along with Central Bank of the Midwest and CTK Real Estate, have just started construction on a 256-unit mixed-use apartment complex in the historic Westport neighborhood. The development, located at the corner of Westport Rd. and Broadway Blvd., will also feature 10,000 square feet of ground-level retail space.
“Westport has a unique, historical aesthetic, and this project will bring that attitude to life in a contemporary way,” says Joe Downs, vice president, general manager, Opus Development Co., LLC.
