HONOLULU—Howard Hughes Corp. broke ground Monday on its 'A'ali'i high-rise at its expansive Ward Village community here.
The mixed-use A'ali'i residential development upon completion will feature 751 units. The project has already received very strong local demand with more than 76% of homes sold since sales began in January, company officials state. Ward Village is being developed as the nation's largest LEED‐ND Platinum certified community by Dallas-based Howard Hughes Corp.
The new building will join the four other Ward Village towers either already delivered or under construction—Waiea, Anaha, Ae'o and Ke Kilohana. At full build-out, the 60-acre community will include approximately 1 million square feet of retail and food and beverage tenants and more than 4,500 homes.
“We have spent years studying the most cutting-edge residential product in the world, and 'A'ali'i represents our vision of an experiential lifestyle that does not currently exist in the market,” said David R. Weinreb, CEO of The Howard Hughes Corp. “Our robust sales across Ward Village are reflective of the growing market demand for turnkey living solutions and innovative home designs that empower residents to make the most out of their homes.”
Designed by award-winning architecture firm Solomon Cordwell Buenz and locally-based Ferraro Choi & Associates, in partnership with acclaimed interior designer Rottet Studios, 'A'ali'i is located next to Aeʻo and the recently opened flagship Whole Foods Market. The property will include up to 11,300 square feet of new street-level retail and nearly an acre of recreational amenities.
