SAN DIEGO—Last week was the big CREW Network Convention and Marketplace here in San Diego. Among our extensive panel coverage, GlobeSt.com caught up with a few women at the event.

“I am in awe and completely inspired to be a room of 1200 women that are in real estate, unbelievably smart, doing deals, laughing and pulling each other up,” Anne Benge, CEO of CULTURA, based in San Diego, told GlobeSt.com. CULTURA is a company who has partnered with more than 300 companies to build spaces together that support their businesses, people and ultimately culture, since 2009. “CREW is the only organization that can make that happen.”

Up next, we chatted with Tiffany English, a principal at Ware Malcomb, who told GlobeSt.com that the caliber of connections made through CREW network is like no other in the industry.  “The diversity of the membership enhances and embraces the advancement of women in the commercial real estate industry.  This mission not only elevates women in the industry but the entire industry as a whole.  This convention provides all of us the opportunity to expand our network and grow professionally and personally.”

CREW Network also recognized 2018 distinguished leaders and impact award honorees at the event. Sue Ansel and Hilary Provinse were named Distinguished Leaders—top executives in commercial real estate invited by the CREW Network board of directors to serve as advisors to the organization and women in the industry. Ansel and Provinse shared their insight, industry knowledge and paths to success at the Distinguished Leaders Roundtable on Friday morning.

Ansel is President and CEO of Gables Residential, a real estate company and privately held REIT specializing in the development, construction, ownership, acquisition, financing and management of multifamily and mixed-use communities. In her 25 plus years with Gables, she has held positions in acquisitions, development, and operations and has led important company initiatives including the advancement of real estate technology efforts and third-party client services.

Provinse joined Berkadia in 2018 as Executive Vice President and Head of Mortgage Banking, and as a member of Berkadia’s Management Committee. In this role, she oversees a team of 130 mortgage bankers located in 31 offices across the U.S., serving clients across all multifamily and commercial channels with expertise in senior housing and healthcare, hotels and hospitality, student housing, affordable housing and manufactured housing.

“Our Distinguished Leaders are thought leaders in the industry,” said CREW Network CEO Wendy Mann, CAE. “They are leaders who have achieved great success in commercial real estate and are willing to share their stories to elevate and inspire others. We are honored to have them join us at the convention and value their insights and perspectives as we continue to advance women in commercial real estate.”
