The social media company will continue to lease all 215,000 square feet of office space at Columbia Property Trust’s property located at 249 W. 17th St. though April 2030.
Twitter’s New York office has been located at the Chelsea property since the building was extensively renovated in 2014. It’s the social media giant’s second largest office, next to the company’s San Francisco headquarters.
Originally built in 1909, the Manhattan property on 17th Street stands between Seventh and Eighth avenues. It includes a six-story western tower connected to a 12-story eastern tower.
“We’re delighted that this fully renovated and highly amenitized property, located in Manhattan’s premier neighborhood for leading tech and media companies, will serve as their New York home for years to come,” says Nelson Mills, Columbia’s CEO.
Columbia notes that it was represented by Paul Amrich and Neil King from CBRE, and Cresa’s Christina Clarke in San Francisco and Peter Sabesan in New York City represented Twitter.
In addition to Twitter, the building houses Room & Board’s multi-story, modern furniture showroom and a FlyWheel Cycle Studio. Commercial Observer has reported that Twitter has been subleasing parts of its space to Lyft, Netflix and Major League Baseball.
