JAG Begins Work on Luxury Apartment in Shaw
The 132-unit building will also have 16,000-square feet of street level retail.
WASHINGTON, DC–Jefferson Apartment Group has begun construction on a boutique luxury apartment community at 2009 8th St in the Shaw submarket. It is the second development for the company here, having delivered Jefferson MarketPlace in 2014.
The site, purchased in 2016, is a co-investment venture between JAG and Stars Investment Management Co. The building will feature 132 units on seven floors plus a penthouse level. Hickok Cole is the architect. The design will incorporate the façade of the existing building so the site will blend well with the pedestrian-scale urban fabric of Shaw.
“Shaw offers some of the capital city’s best restaurants, shopping and entertainment options, and we plan to complement those offerings at 2009 8th Street with an additional 16,000 square feet of street level retail,” according to Greg Van Wie, Vice President and Development Partner at Jefferson Apartment Group.
Once completed, the apartment community will have a full-time concierge, fitness center, and penthouse amenity space. The units will include studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom options as well as four units on the third floor featuring private “outdoor living rooms.”
