Anthony LoPinto

Yesterday the Wall Street Journal published its Management Top 250 company rankings and reported that Apple took the top spot followed by Amazon and Microsoft. The scorecard was developed by using the principles of the late management guru Peter Drucker. Drucker's five “dimensions of performance” are: customer satisfaction, employee engagement and development, innovation, social responsibility, and financial strength. Drucker believed that companies should exist for purposes beyond profits, emphasizing that they should care for workers and benefit society. I reflected on the five dimensions and felt they do truly represent corporate excellence. I found it interesting that the three technology juggernauts were at the top of the rankings. Clearly there relatively young companies reflect emerging morays and the new normal, especially among the millennial generation. CEOs should take note!
