NEW YORK CITY—Knotel has subleased 57,104 square feet, the entire eighth floor at 229 W. 43rd Street, the skyscraper known as the former home to The New York Times.

Engine Group had been leasing the space from Columbia Property Trust who owns the office portion of the building. They reached the deal with Knotel, who was represented by Colliers International's Michael Cohen, John Pavone and Jessica Verdi. John Maher and David Mahoney of CBRE represented Engine.

“As the former long-time home of one of America's most respected media organizations, 229 West 43rd St. is truly a legendary New York City location,” says Eugene Lee, Knotel's global head of real estate and business development. “With its Midtown location near so many corporate headquarters, convenient transit access and large floorplates that meet the needs of many companies, it complements our portfolio perfectly.”

In the past two weeks, Knotel has announced taking on over 200,000 square feet of new locations in New York and San Francisco. This included its leasing a full floor at SL Green's 110 Greene St.

In addition, the WeWork competitor is leasing another 200,000 square feet in Brazil, moving into São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro over the next six months. Knotel also plans to announce transactions in Los Angeles in the coming weeks.
