WeWork Opens Membership-Free Retail and Co-Working Space
The We Company launches Made by We, a public space at 902 Broadway.
NEW YORK CITY—WeWork, which has rebranded as the We Company, has opened a public space where no membership is required. It’s at 902 Broadway between E. 20th and E. 21st streets in Manhattan’s Flatiron District.
The Made by We program describes itself as an updated town square. It offers retail, selling WeWork members’ products. The merchandise includes items such as food, clothing, apparel, stationery, items for travel and creatives takes on office supplies.
“I’ve learned a lot about how to continue to grow my company, especially online, thanks to the great WeWork community and networking events,” says WeWork member Terrence Kelleman, founder and president of Dynomighty Design. “I was thrilled to pitch my products to Made by We. Now, I have a brick-and-mortar presence in the same community which will continue to give me feedback and support my products throughout New York.”
At 902 Broadway, nearly 100 workplace seats are available to book by the minute (with a 30-minute minimum requirement) or by the day. Made by We also offers meeting spaces for groups of four to 10 to reserve by the hour. Both the individual work stations and meeting areas can be booked by walk-in users or in advance online through the website.
The space also has a coffee shop environment, with an onsite Bluestone Lane cafe.
WeWork partner, Julie Rice, the co-founder of SoulCycle, describes Made by We as focusing on services to create human connections. “Made by We was launched with a vision to connect the We community with the rest of the world, and provide people with the best on-demand workspace, services and products, no membership required,” says Rice.
With SoftBank Group’s $6 billion investment, WeWork rebranded as the We Company. It is branching out to different projects such as the debut of its Made by We space.
