NEW YORK CITY—A group of six New York City lawyers focusing on commercial real estate have left Haynes and Boone to join Holland & Knight. The team includes partners Noah Shapiro, Russ Rabinovich and Lauren Margiano, senior counsel Siobhan Green, and associates Abigail Pugliese and Jennifer Haberman.
The attorneys represent both landlords and tenants in retail, office and restaurant lease negotiations. Their client roster includes heavy hitters in the New York real estate industry such as SL Green Realty Corp., L&L Holding Company, Brookfield Office Properties and Fisher Brothers.
“We are delighted that Noah, Russ and Lauren have brought their blue chip commercial real estate leasing practice to Holland & Knight,” says Joe Guay, a partner and the leader of the firm's national real estate section. He notes the new lawyers will expand the services in the New York real estate practice, enhancing the firm's reputation in the market.
Obtaining a significant commercial leasing practice has been a strategic priority of the firm for some time, according to Stuart Saft, the leader of Holland & Knight's New York real estate practice group. “We have had a general real estate practice with an emphasis on development, condo formation, land use, construction, general advice on operations, joint ventures and some leasing. Noah and his team give us the ability to better serve our clients,” Saft tells GlobeSt.com.
Shapiro notes the firm's reputation for real estate nationally and in New York as one of the reasons behind his team's decision. “Russ, Lauren and I believe our clients will benefit from the firm's extensive real estate capabilities, particularly in the areas of real estate, condominiums, land use and construction,” he says.
Holland and Knight's website states it has more than 1,300 lawyers and other professionals in 28 offices around the world. It lists 251 attorney under the real estate section. A firm spokesman says they have 47 real estate lawyers located in New York City. The Haynes and Boone website states it has more than 575 attorneys in 16 offices. It lists 37 real estate lawyers in the firm's New York City office.
