WASHINGTON, DC—WashREIT has leased 51,000 square feet at Watergate 600 to EIG Global Energy Partners. EIG, a capital provider for the global energy industry, will occupy one-sixth of the 12-story landmark office building at 600 New Hampshire Ave., NW.
With this lease, the REIT will have leased 80% of the space vacated by Blank Rome law firm, according to WashREIT Vice President Anthony Chang.
The 300,000-square foot Watergate 600 is next to the Kennedy Center and close to the Foggy Bottom Metro station. EIG is expected to relocate to the top two floors of the building by January of 2020.
Since acquiring the property in 2017 WashREIT has made several renovations, including a 2,300 square-foot conference and entertainment center, a tenant-only fitness club and a lobby renovation. WashREIT is also working with Swatchroom to commission artwork by Stallman Studio and Francisco Valverde.
