Colliers International has launched a new environmental and building due diligence group. The new division will service clients throughout the US and will be based in Phoenix under the leadership of Lee Morris, who is a registered geologist and expert in environmental consulting. The services group will include assistance with procurement and monitoring of services such as ALTA surveys, traffic studies, civil engineering and land planning for investors, developers, legal counsel, property managers.

“We listened to our customers. They seek greater value in addition to a wider range of solutions to their real estate needs. The more capabilities we bring to the table, the better we can serve the needs of our clients,” Bob Mulhern, managing director at Colliers International in Arizona, tells GlobeSt.com. “Colliers as an organization looks to grow by responding to emerging trends   in an ever-evolving industry. In support of its brokerage business, Colliers currently offers Appraisal, Finance, Project Management, Real Estate Tax Appeals, and Corporate Services. Environmental is additional and important piece that contributes to the synergy necessary to compete in today's dynamic marketplace.”

Colliers launched the new group because environmental services have become integral to the deal. In Phoenix, which has seen an increase in investment activity, there is a growing demand for environmental due diligence services. “The Phoenix-metropolitan area consistently is noted as one of the fastest growing cities in the United States,” says Mulhern. “The office building industry alone contributes approximately $1.8 Billion to Arizona's economy. Environmental (and building) due diligence is a critical part of most real estate transactions. Transactions require thorough review and consultation to help deals meet business objectives while protecting client's interests. Unresolved environmental considerations have serious ramifications relative to personal liability and a property's long-term viability. As such environmental due diligence is a logical adjunct to a brokerage's menu of services here in the Phoenix marketplace.”
