Newman Garrison and Partners is entering the hospitality market. The architecture and design firm is bringing the lifestyle mindset and demand for more creative spaces, which has totally revamped office, multifamily and retail, into the hospitality firm—where it says there is a wealth of opportunities. They plan to work with its longstanding clients on mixed-use hospitality clients.

“Newman Garrison and Partners is inspired to deliver more than just a destination to our clients,” Kevin Newman, chairman and CEO of Newman Garrison and Partners, tells GlobeSt.com. “Approaching our mixed-use and multifamily projects with a broader “lifestyle” mindset, we strive to create meaningful and memorable experiences for the communities we work with—an approach that mirrors that of the hospitality market. As leaders in the industry with heightened market awareness, we look forward to changing the landscape of the mixed-use and multifamily industries as we continue implementing both practical and upscale amenities, while also bringing our lifestyle and experience-focused approach to hospitality.”

This cycle, every asset class has been transformed by cultural changes and a preference for experiential and creative spaces. Office spaces have become more open and flexible; multifamily assets have become more amenitized with spaces that cultivate a community atmosphere; and retail has become focused on creating a unique customer experience that cannot be duplicated online. “We look at our foray into the hospitality market as an opportunity to transform physical spaces into integrated experiences for perhaps an even broader demographic,” says Newman. “In all of our work, we strive to achieve a strong alignment and balance of business metrics and design goals, which opens up the doors for very close internal and external collaboration—an aspect of our work that we greatly value and enjoy.”

Newman says that trend forecasting and integrated collaboration will be a crucial element of the firm's approach to hospitality. “Staying ahead of trends and understanding the demands of the hospitality market will help us to achieve the success we have met in the mixed-use/multifamily industries,” he explains. “As we embrace the increasing demand of hospitality components in our mixed-use developments, we will draw from our deep lifestyle design expertise to create experiences for our clients that meet the needs of varying use-groups.”

In the first 12 months, Newman Garrison will focus on mixed-use hospitality projects and working with existing clients. “Our goals are to advance the many mixed-use hospitality-centric opportunities already on the boards with our existing, long-standing clients,” says Newman. “We also aim to continue seeking out opportunities to build new relationships with other forward-thinking developers.”
