Trinity Property Consultants has taken immediate action to reposition Dobie Twenty21 with updates including modernizing each studio and suite, the dining hall and cooling system, based on resident feedback.
AUSTIN, TX—Trinity Property Consultants has begun renovations at Dobie Twenty21, the only private dormitory on the University of Texas campus, located at 2021 Guadalupe St. Notable for being the first modern high rise just a few feet from campus, Dobie was originally completed in 1972 as Dobie Mall, named after author J. Frank Dobie.
With a rich history and generations of notable students, including Michael Dell who founded Dell in dorm room #2713, Dobie has evolved during the past 50 years. The 27-story 950,000-square-foot tower includes retail and restaurant tenants such as Target, Ragstock, Starbucks, CVS and locally owned fast-casual dining spots to the first two retail levels.
Since the property was acquired in 2015, Trinity Property Consultants has taken immediate action to reposition Dobie. Updates include modernizing each studio and suite, based on resident feedback. The 5,000-square-foot dining hall received a facelift and extra attention was placed on resident experience and programming. Most recently, all four cooling towers were replaced to address air conditioning concerns and the management firm is prioritizing elevator upgrades to increase speed and safety.
In addition to feedback, the management firm optimized and modernized amenities throughout the dormitory, including tripling the size of the fitness center to include cardio and weight equipment, making updates to the 11 study rooms and business center with new Apple and PC computers in the technology center, offering 24/7 package pick-ups, and sprucing up the rooftop park area which features an updated pool and hot tub, basketball court, an outdoor theater, and pool with skyline views. Attracting primarily freshman and sophomore students, Dobie Twenty21 touts being one of the most affordable housing options in the market with a diverse mix of residents and an inclusive community-driven environment.
