NEW YORK CITY—Bombas got its footing in new office space, signing a lease with the Winter Organization for 33,300 square feet at 881 Broadway. The online sock designer and retailer will be moving its headquarters from 37 E. 18th St. toward the end of the summer or early fall. The asking rent for the long-term lease was $88 per square foot according to Newmark Knight Frank managing director Anthony Sciacca.

An NKF team led by executive managing director Robert Silver and Sciacca represented the Winter Organization in the transaction. Ellie Reiss of Skylight Leasing represented the tenant.

Bombas is known for making colorful and comfortable socks. But the company is also known for its philanthropy in donating a pair of socks to the homeless for each pair of socks sold. Its success and growth has prompted its move to the larger space near Union Square.

“We are pleased to welcome Bombas, a growing company with a strong sense of purpose for its customers and for society, as they make 881 Broadway their new home,” says Silver. “This neighborhood has always been on the cutting edge for creative companies that hope to expand their business and attract new talent.”

Constructed in the late 1800s to house a department store, 881 Broadway has eye-catching architectural features such as dramatically high ceilings, large windows and decorative columns.

In addition to its Broadway address, the building has alternate street designations of 115 Fifth Ave. and 9 E. 18th St. NKF notes 46,500 rentable square feet, the entire fifth floor at the building, is still available for rent. The brokers add the space has 14-foot high exposed ceilings and street exposure on all four sides.
