Stirling Capital Investments and Prologis have donated an industrial facility at the Southern California Logistics Airport to be used as a workforce-training center. The companies have entered into a 10-year agreement with Victor Valley Community College, which will create the training center to provide the High Desert workforce with the skills needed in today's business market. The ultimate goal of the training center is to stimulate the local economy by responding to the skill sets that businesses need.

The training center will target the local manufacturing, transportation and logistics industries. The logistics industry in particular is experiencing labor shortages. Last fall, Prologis launched Community Workforce Initiative in Los Angeles to address the issue, and since the program has expanded to Miami and New York.

SCLA has more than 4.5 million square feet of industrial space and a roster of tenants that include Newell Brands, FedEx and General Electric. The training center will be housed in the 66,000-square-foot former George Air Force Base. SCI plans to upgrade the facility to accommodate the training center.
