SUFFOLK, VA—Easterly Government Properties has acquired a 403,737-square-foot US Joint Staff Command facility in Suffolk. The sale price was not disclosed.
The facility is comprised of two modern, Class A buildings entirely leased to the General Services Administration and occupied by the Department of Defense's US Joint Staff Command division. The two-building facility sits on about 40 acres and has 1,200 surface parking spaces for staff and visitors. It has more than 10,000 square feet of Secure Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) space and more than 118,000 square feet of specialized cooling and raised floor area for the facility's data center operations.
Under a lease that expires in June 2028, this Level IV Security facility was recently re-leased to the GSA for a firm term of 10 years with an additional five-year option.
The facility is within a secure DoD campus with a controlled perimeter and is near six major military installations: Norfolk Naval Station, Naval Air Station, Fort Eustis, Naval Weapons Station Yorktown, Newport News Shipyard and Langley Airforce Base.
Easterly is a REIT focused on the acquisition, development and management of Class A commercial properties leased to the US government.
