NEW YORK CITY—Colliers International Group has hired Damla Barrett as a director in their New York leasing practice, with a focus on tenant representation. She'll be based out of the Manhattan office.

Damla comes to Colliers from Jones Lang LaSalle, where being fluent in Turkish, she represented The Turkish Consulate General in its 20,000-square-foot relocation to 605 Third Ave. She also assisted Humanscale secure its global headquarters at 1114 Ave. of the Americas while doubling their footprint from 12,000 to 24,000 square feet.

Barrett also represented Poppin in its national expansion with showrooms and offices in Boston, Washington, DC and Seattle. Before JLL, she worked for three years at the CRE brokerage firm NAI Global.

“Damla is a highly regarded broker with an unmatched work ethic and strong market intelligence,” says Stephen Shapiro, Colliers' director of operations for the tri-state region.

“The company's innovative, forward thinking culture empowers brokers to evolve professionally and perform at the highest level,” says Barrett. “My goals will be to uphold the company's reputation while continuing to grow our market share.”

Thus far this year, Colliers has been responsible for two of the top 10 leases in Manhattan: EmblemHealth's 439,080-square-foot renewal at 55 Water St. and Bank of Montreal's 215,056-square-foot lease at 4 Times Square.

Barrett graduated from Rutgers University, with a bachelor's degree in political science and philosophy. She is a Young Society Leader for the American Turkish Society and actively volunteers with the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
