A joint venture between Sundt Construction and Stacy and Witbeck has completed a construction of Gilbert Road Light Rail Extension in Mesa, Arizona. The new light rail will help to connect Phoenix, Mesa and Tempe, which will accommodate population and business growth in the market.

The extension added 1.9 miles and two stations to the existing 26-mile Valley Metro Rail system. The project took a total of three years and included the first four-legged roundabout with a train going through in the US.

This was a significant project that included 910,000 pounds of rebar put in the track slab, more than 650 tons of rail installed and more than 9,000 cubic yards of concrete poured in the track slab.
